PG Coverstone, Pastoral Assistant

I am a true Valley boy, hailing from Fort Valley, Virginia—better known as “The Fort.” I was raised in a small, loving Christian church in Browntown, Virginia. The church did not get indoor plumbing until 1990…I can still remember the squeaky door on the old, shabby outhouse.
I spent five years in the US Coast Guard where I was a rescue swimmer and part of the commissioning crew of the USCGC Tampa. After coming “home” to the Valley, I held several different jobs in Corporate America working in the Information Technology field.
In 2002 I met my beautiful wife, Barbara, and we married soon after. In 2007 God called us to minister in various local nursing homes on a weekly basis. It was from that experience that I finally realized what I wanted to be when I grew up.
In 2013 we quit our jobs and sold our home and headed to Charis Bible College in Woodland Park, Colorado, where we both enrolled in their program. There I earned a Bachelor of Biblical Studies degree and completed the graduate program with a concentration in Pastoral Leadership. I also had the privilege of working for the college as the Distance Education Coordinator.

We have a wonderful son, Zachary, who lives in Norfolk, Virginia, and works for the Department of the Navy as a nuclear engineer. We enjoy our home in Edinburg, Virginia, and our spoiled, puggle, Harley. Barbara and I have had the honor and privilege to be a part of the family here at Wakemans Grove Church of the Brethren since September 2018, and we are looking forward to God’s future plans for us here at The Grove. “

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”                   Ephesians 3:20-21
