Mark Bowyer, Pastor

“I was born and raised near Akron Ohio, attending a United
Methodist Church most of my life. I met the Lord in a significant way on a youth gospel singing tour (Youth Musicale) in 1981, and have never looked back! College was at the College of Wooster in Ohio (BMusEd 1985) followed by a nine year career in teaching middle school and high school. Seven years of that were in the beautiful Virgin Islands. It is there that I met my beautiful wife, Lesley, and her two wonderful children (now 34 -year-old best-selling author Tobias Buckell), and Freya (Now 29 and a chef on a private yacht). We married in 1990, lived for five years aboard sailing vessel Nancy Ann, and moved back to Ohio In 1995 after Hurricane Marilyn. Our son, Aaron was born just a year before in 1994, and is an aspiring archaeologist. Back in Ohio I began seminary and youth ministry (Including two years serving with John Ballinger at the Maple
Grove Church of the Brethren in Ohio), and in 2002 (MDiv Ashland Theological Seminary) I became pastor of the Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, Lima Ohio. Now serving the good folks of Wakemans Grove and looking forward to many years of ministry together!”
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”                   Ephesians 4:11-13
