This morning, just as I finished my devotional that encouraged believers to be a “non-anxious, reassuring and reconciling presence who live in peace and walk quietly and consistently in peace and uprightness” I received a text from a friend, with a photo attached.

It was a photo of a note that I had written to her on May 5, 2019. It was all of two sentences; two sentences of encouragement that she had tucked away in her Bible. I do not remember writing it nor the circumstances that inspired me to do so. But there it was, undeniably in my handwriting.

I was thankful for the Holy Spirit’s reminder about the simple act of speaking words that “build one another up according to their needs so that it will benefit them” Ephesians 4:29. And when I stopped at the gas station, it motivated me to speak a hearty “Good morning!” to the man pumping fuel next to me. He responded in kind and said, “I’m loving these lower gas prices!” And I replied, “That, and a beautiful morning offer us double blessings.” He laughed and said, “That’s right!”

What words will you speak today that will encourage, offer hope, spread joy, and leave a lasting peaceful influence on another person?

“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2
I’m praying for you,
Pastor Deb
